Professional jazz concert featuring the Kim Maguire Quintet at the historic Seattle First Baptist Church as part of the Seattle Jazz Vespers series.
Kim Maguire leads her quintet at Seattle Jazz Vespers on Sunday, November 1, for a full evening of jazz. The concert takes place in the gothic sanctuary of the Seattle First Baptist Church, at 1111 Harvard Ave on First Hill, right where First Hill and Capitol Hill meet. It's a secular jazz concert with an inspirational message, and the whole thing runs about 100 minutes: two professional jazz sets split by a short, non-sectarian vespers, followed by a conversation with the artists and a CD table.
Maguire is a mainstay of the Seattle vocal jazz scene, having worked as a performer, educator, director, and producer for 30 years. In 2017, she was a finalist for the Seattle/Kobe Female Jazz Vocalist competition. Critics describe her as a stunning singer whose style blends classic swing with contemporary sounds, noted for its joy, technical skill, and a silky-smooth vocal texture. She's played the Houston Grand Opera, Benaroya Hall, and the Fifth Ave. Theatre, and released the album Fling the Doors Wide (Kimberly D. Records, 2026).
