Concert by American singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt performing her third album 'Fools for the Fleeting' at the Neumos venue.
Katie Pruitt plays Neumos on Monday, November 2, with Olivia Barton opening. Pruitt is a Georgia-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist who now lives in Nashville, and she's touring her third full-length album, Fools for the Fleeting.
Fools for the Fleeting is a ten-song set of Americana and indie rock that Pruitt describes as being rooted in the idea of nature as a mirror for our inner lives. She recorded it with guitarist Juan Solorzano and drummer Aksel Coe, and the songs sit in that space where folk, Americana, and alternative music overlap. It's her third album, and it follows two records that traced different paths. Her 2020 debut, Expectations, earned her an Emerging Artist of the Year nomination from the Americana Music Association and documented her growing up queer in the Christian Southβa record she later heard hit listeners on an elemental level. Her sophomore effort, Mantras, turned inward to explore gender identity, self-compassion, and the struggle for peace in times of chaos and uncertainty. Between those two and Fools for the Fleeting, you can see her moving from the external world of her upbringing to the internal world of identity and then out again into the natural world.
