Jazz concert by the Julian Lage Quartet, featuring Julian Lage on guitar, John Medeski on keys, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums.
Julian Lage and his quartet play The Moore Theatre on Thursday, October 15, their first Seattle date since their latest record came out. The lineup is Lage on guitar, John Medeski on keys and organ, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums. It's a quartet that's become a mainstay of the jazz scene, known for paying homage to classic styles while adding a twist of their own.
They're touring Scenes from Above, released this year, so the set will be built around the new material. The group has earned a following from fans and critics alike for that balance of looking back and moving forward, and this is the first time they'll be bringing those songs to a Seattle stage.
Lage himself is a Grammy nominee, widely acclaimed as one of the most prodigious guitarists of his generation. He first made a name for himself when he performed at the Grammy Awards at just 12 years old, and he's been playing since. He's the front of the quartet, with Medeski, Roeder, and Wollesen filling out the sound around him.
