Concert by the Nashville folk-hop duo Judah & The Lion presenting their album 'I Am A Prism' at The Showbox.
Judah & The Lion play The Showbox on Monday, October 5, with Colby! and Band of Silver opening. They're touring their sixth album, I Am A Prism, which follows a trilogy of heavier records: 2019's Pep Talks, 2022's Revival, and 2024's The Process.
At the core of the Nashville duo are brothers Judah Akers and Brian Macdonald, who became bandmates in college back in 2011. Akers takes guitar and lead vocals; Macdonald plays mandolin and sings. Their sound pulls from alternative, folk-hop, folk, alt-rock, and rock, and I Am A Prism was shaped by personal milestones, including Macdonald becoming a father again. They recorded it with Grammy-nominated producer Jeremy Lutito, and the album incorporates audience voices—the live-tested "Maybe The Best Is Now" is one example. The title track came from Judah's older brother, Eli, who told him he'd stopped listening to their albums because the lyrics made him too sad, and the band points to "Miracle" as the record's thematic core.
