Concert by singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun at The Moore Theatre.
Joy Oladokun plays The Moore Theatre on Friday, October 30, starting at 8 PM. She's a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who's built a name around a voice of unusual vulnerability, and this is her only Seattle date on the tour.
She'll be touring her new project, Observations From a Crowded Room, which comes out October 18. It's a 15-track collection she wrote and produced herself, and it pushes her pop-folk roots into electronic and psychedelic territory. If you've followed her since the breakthrough in 2020, you'll recognize the folk foundation, but this one leans into different textures. The set will likely draw from there, alongside songs from her previous two albums, 2021's in defense of my own happiness and 2023's Proof of Life.
Oladokun is a queer Black woman and the daughter of Nigerian immigrants. Her work often sits at the intersection of the personal and the political: "i see america" was a finalist for the Recording Academy's Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change. She's performed at the White House during the Respect for Marriage Act signing ceremony and has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Austin City Limits. Along the way, she's collaborated with Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, and Noah Kahan.

Rolling Stone once called her "Nashville's most low-key musical revolutionary," a description that fits the way she works—quietly building a discography rather than chasing a single moment. The Moore Theatre is at 1932 2nd Ave, and the show starts at 8 PM on Friday, October 30.
