Jazz guitarist John Scofield performs live at The Neptune Theatre in Seattle.
John Scofield plays the Neptune Theatre on Friday, November 6, 2026. He's a jazz guitarist and composer who's spent decades moving between bebop, R&B, and the blues, and this is a headlining date with him as the sole feature on the bill.
If you're not familiar with his name, you've likely run into his work. Scofield played with Miles Davis and eventually collaborated with him, staying in Davis's band until 1985 and releasing Electric Outlet in 1984 and Still Warm in 1985. He's worked across the jazz spectrum: he recorded with Charles Mingus in 1976, replaced Pat Metheny in Gary Burton's quartet, and signed with Enja Records that same autumn, putting out East Meets West in 1977. In 1979, he formed a trio with Steve Swallow and Adam Nussbaum.
By the early 1990s, he'd shifted into a quartet with Joe Lovano and recorded several albums for Blue Note, Time on My Hands (1990) among them. He released Grace Under Pressure in 1992 with Bill Frisell, collaborated with Pat Metheny on I Can See Your House from Here in 1994, and recorded A Go Go in 1997 with Medeski, Martin and Wood, with whom he's toured and recorded extensively. Later on, he moved into drum-and-bass and funk on albums like Überjam (2002) and Up All Night (2004).
