Concert by the ten-time Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Janis Siegel, founding member of The Manhattan Transfer, at The Triple Door.
Janis Siegel plays The Triple Door on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. If that name sounds familiar, it's because she was a founding member of The Manhattan Transfer, where she sang lead on many of the group's biggest hits, including "Operator," "Chanson D'Amour," "Birdland," and the Grammy-winning "Sassy." She also wrote five of the charts for their masterwork Vocalese.
Beyond the group, she's built a solo career that spans nearly a dozen albums and a long list of collaborations. Her tenth solo CD, Nightsongs (Palmetto Records), was followed by HONEY & AIR with Requinte Trio, SOME OTHER TIME—a Leonard Bernstein tribute with Nils Landgren—and the live record VOX HUMANA in 2023. She continues to produce for other artists, tour with her trio, teach at universities, and perform with alto Lauren Kinhan in the virtual music program VOCAL GUMBO.
