Singer-songwriter Haley Heynderickx returns to the road for a rare run of solo performances, following her acclaimed debut and collaboration with Max Garcia Conover.
Haley Heynderickx plays The Neptune Theatre on Friday, November 27, as part of a rare run of solo performances. It's a bit of a shift from where she's been lately: for the last year, she's been touring with Max García Conover, the same musician she collaborated with on her most recent record, What of Our Nature. This time, though, she's back on the road on her own.
If you've followed her from the start, you'll recognize the path that led here. Her debut, I Need to Start a Garden, set the stage, and Seed of a Seed followed it. What of Our Nature was the collaboration with García Conover, and after a year of touring that record and writing new material, she's returning to the stage solo. It's a rare thing to catch her playing alone these days, so this run is a distinct change of pace from the duo work she's been doing.
As for what she does: Heynderickx is one of contemporary folk's most quietly captivating voices. She writes with warmth, wit and self-reflection, and her songs find wonder in the everyday while exploring questions of identity, belonging and our relationship with the natural world. It's the kind of songwriting that doesn't need a full band to carry it—the focus stays on the voice and the guitar.
