Los Vega Son Jarocho perform traditional son jarocho, with Tom Landa and members of Locarno, in The Great Hall as part of the Global Rhythms Series.
Los Vega Son Jarocho play The Great Hall on Sunday, April 18, 2027, as part of the Global Rhythms Series presented by Town Hall Seattle and SAMA: Music + Art. The group is led by guitarist and singer Rubén González, and for this show they're joined by Tom Landa and members of Locarno.
If you're not familiar with the name, son jarocho is the traditional music of Veracruz, Mexico. It's a style that blends folk, dance, and poetry, and Los Vega Son Jarocho is one of the leading groups playing it today. The concert brings that Veracruz sound to Seattle, with González on guitar and vocals at the front.
There are a few things to keep in mind about the timing if you're planning to go. The performance starts at 7:30 PM, but the lobby doors open early at 6:00 PM, and seating begins at 7:00 PM. If you want to hang out before the music starts, there will be food and drinks available in the lobby from the moment the doors open. The show is also being offered in both in-person and livestream formats, so you can catch it from home if you can't make it downtown.
