Concert by the funk and soul band Family Mystic, featuring special guest Micaela Kingslight at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center.
Family Mystic play the Fremont Abbey Arts Center on Friday, October 23, with Micaela Kingslight opening the night. The show starts at 7:30 PM.
Family Mystic formed in 2019 and has been touring the West Coast since 2020, building a following around four-part vocal harmonies that pull together classic funk and soul, 70s psychedelic rock, modern americana, disco and jazz fusion. The band is led by Marcelo Guitron on guitar, with Ian Love on keys and falsetto, and Matthew and Todd Serino on bass and drums. They've supported acts like Jason Hann, Dogs in A Pile and Pink Talking Fish, and shared stages with Moonalice, California Honeydrops and MaMuse.
Opening the night is Micaela Kingslight, a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and lifelong music educator from Port Townsend, Washington. She began playing violin and piano at age three and was teaching music by fifteen. As lead guitarist and songwriter in Flypaper, she opened for Primus, The Dresden Dolls and B.B. King, and has sung with the folk supergroup Three Wheels Turning.
