A satirical comedy by Jonathan Spector exploring vaccine policy, safety, and equity at a progressive private school.
Eureka Day is running at the Seattle Repertory Theatre from September 24 through November 15, 2026. It's a satirical comedy by Jonathan Spector, set at the fictional Eureka Day School, a proudly progressive private elementary school in Berkeley, California. When a case of mumps surfaces, the school's consensus-based board of directors has to confront a vaccine policy debate, and the meeting unravels into a clash over safety, equity, and what it means to protect one another, tearing through the committee's carefully PC facade. It's the kind of thing that starts with a simple question and ends with everyone shouting over each other.
This isn't a new play. It premiered at the Aurora Theatre Company in Berkeley in 2018, played Walkerspace in New York in 2019, had its European premiere at The Old Vic in 2022, and made it to Broadway in 2024, where it won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. Critics have called it a razor-sharp satire of well-meaning chaos, and a BroadwayWorld reviewer noted that it seems almost prophetic in light of post-pandemic public health debates. If you've spent any time in a committee meeting where everyone is trying too hard to be the most reasonable person in the room, you'll recognize the energy.

It's playing in the Leo K. Theater (Leo Kreielsheimer Theatre) at the Seattle Rep, 155 Mercer Street, Seattle, WA 98109. It's part of the Rep's 2026/27 season, which also includes John Proctor Is the Villain and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, so there are a few different things to catch at the same venue this year. The run goes from September 24 through November 15, giving you plenty of time to fit it in.
