Concert by Nashville singer-songwriter Emily Nenni, performing tracks from her album 'Movin' Shoes' with support from Silverada.
Emily Nenni plays Tractor Tavern on Sunday, November 15, as part of her Movin' Shoes tour. She'll be sharing the bill with Silverada, so it's a double bill rather than a solo night.
Nenni is a Nashville singer-songwriter, and Movin' Shoes is her fourth full-length album. She cut the record at Matt Ross-Spang's Southern Grooves studio with producer John James Tourville of The Deslondes, and it came out May 1 via New West Records. The album runs 13 tracks, drawing on 60s girl groups and honky tonk heroes, and includes covers of Paul Simon, Delbert McClinton, and Cass Elliott. Those covers sit alongside her own songs, so the set should pull from both her original writing and the records she's citing.
If you're not familiar with her, the girl group and honky tonk influences give you a good sense of where the sound lands. The 60s girl group side brings the close harmonies and the pop sensibility, while the honky tonk side keeps it rooted in country. With 13 tracks on the new record, there's plenty of material to work with, and the covers add a few familiar names to the mix. Silverada opens the night, so you'll get two acts for the price of one.
