A hands-on creative workshop for kids and teens on costume design and sewing techniques, with a Halloween fashion show finale.
Pakio Galore leads Dress the Part, a costume design workshop at MoPOP that runs every Saturday in October. It's one of the museum's Saturday Sessions, a series of month-long, hands-on creative workshops for kids and teens led by local artists, educators and industry professionals. This one takes place over four sessions: October 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2026.
Across those four Saturdays, you'll work through the techniques that turn fabric into fantasy. It starts with essential sewing skills and moves into the art of embellishment—the kind of detail that takes wearable art from something you just put on to something that actually stops people in their tracks. The workshop welcomes all experience levels, from those making their first stitch to seasoned creators, so you don't need to have a sewing machine at home to get started.
Each session closes with a Halloween fashion show, so you're not just learning in a vacuum—you're building something to show off. By the time you hit the final session on October 31, you'll have a finished piece and a chance to see it in action.
