Jazz concert featuring the Dmitri Matheny Quintet as part of the Seattle Jazz Vespers series, held at the historic Seattle First Baptist Church.
The Dmitri Matheny Quintet plays at Seattle Jazz Vespers on Sunday, April 4, as part of the series' 2026-27 season. The music starts at 6 PM, with doors opening at 5:30 PM, at the Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Ave on First Hill.
If you're not familiar with the series, it's a secular jazz concert held on the first Sunday night of each month from October through June. The format is the same every time: two professional music sets split by a short, non-sectarian inspirational message, followed by a conversation with the artists and a CD table. The 2026-27 season runs through June 6, 2027, so this is one of the Sunday nights that make up the full stretch.
On this particular evening, the Dmitri Matheny Quintet takes the stage. Matheny is a trumpet player, and the quintet brings together a full ensemble for the two sets. The music is professional jazz, and the conversation afterward gives you a chance to hear from the musicians themselves after the sets are done.
