Dinosaur Jr., the influential American rock band, perform live at the Neptune Theatre with special guest Stef Chura.
Dinosaur Jr. play the Neptune Theatre on Saturday, October 24, with Stef Chura opening. It's a loud, guitar-heavy bill that fits the room.
If you're not familiar with them, Dinosaur Jr. is one of the most significant American rock bands of all time. They pioneered a sound in the late 1980s that brought crashing lead-guitar textures back to indie rock several years before Nirvana. Their first three albums—Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me, and Bug—became cult masterpieces. When the original lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph re-formed in 2005 for select live dates, critics said their shows were even better than before. They followed that reunion with the 2007 album Beyond.
Stef Chura opens the night, so you'll get two acts on the bill. The headliner is the main draw here, and that's the Mascis-led lineup that's been playing together for years. If you've only heard the early records, seeing them live is a different thing entirely—the volume is a big part of the experience.
