A sensory dining experience where guests eat a secret three-course menu while wearing a blindfold, with options for meat, seafood, or vegan menus.
Dining in the Dark comes to The Collective Seattle on Friday, October 9, at 6 PM. The whole thing is exactly what it sounds like: you eat a secret three-course menu—appetizer, main, and dessert—while wearing a blindfold. The idea is that when you take away your sight, your taste and smell take over, turning each bite into a bit of an adventure and pushing you to rediscover your palate in an intimate setting. It's pitched as a way to enjoy a meal with a partner, family, or friends, and the whole session lasts around two to two and a half hours.
One of the more interesting parts is how you choose your meal. Instead of a traditional menu, you pick by color: Red for meat, Blue for seafood, and Green for vegan. You won't know what's actually on the plate until it's in front of you, and even then, you'll be eating it blindfolded. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Once you book, there's a mandatory questionnaire to fill out so they can handle any dietary requirements before you arrive.
