A joyful holiday musical adaptation of the popular children's alphabet book, featuring lively songs, comedy and audience participation for all ages.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom: The Holiday Show runs at the Seattle Children's Theatre from November 19, 2026, through January 3, 2027, in the Charlotte Martin Theatre. It's the holiday production for the theatre's 2026-27 season, and it puts a seasonal spin on the popular Chicka Chicka Boom Boomβthe one thatβs a joyful exploration of the alphabet, imagination, and togetherness.
In this version, the letters scramble to decorate a giant Christmas tree, stringing lights, hanging ornaments, and tumbling into holiday hijinks. It's more than a musical, they say, with lively songs, clownish comedy, and plenty of audience participation that invites kids and grown-ups to clap, sing, dance, and join in. The show is written by Nina Meehan, with music and lyrics by Austin Zumbro, and is based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (Β© 1989 by Bill Martin Jr., John Archambault, and Lois Ehlert), licensed by Moxie & Company, LLC.
It's recommended for all ages and aimed at children ages 3 and up. The performance runs about 65 minutes with a ten-minute intermission, so it's a manageable length for little ones. There are accessible performances available, including ASL interpretation, audio description, and sensory-friendly showings, which is good to keep in mind if you're planning for a group with different needs.
