A Candlelight concert series performance by the Range Ensemble String Quartet, paying tribute to the rock band Tool in the atmospheric setting of The National Nordic Museum.
Range Ensemble String Quartet is playing a tribute to Tool at The National Nordic Museum on Sunday, December 6. It's part of the Candlelight series, which pairs musicians with atmospheric spaces and lights the room with thousands of LED candles. The show runs about an hour, and the quartet shares anecdotes and facts between songs.
Range Ensemble is a string quartet, so you're getting Tool's music stripped down to strings rather than the full band's heavy sound. The Candlelight series does this across a wide range of repertoire—classical names like Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky sit alongside contemporary artists like Taylor Swift, Coldplay and Joe Hisaishi, with seasonal shows for Valentine's Day, Halloween and the holidays. This particular one is a tribute concert, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tool, their estate or official representatives.
The venue is The National Nordic Museum, a 400-capacity museum and cultural center in Ballard. Its architecture is inspired by Nordic landscapes, and the performances take place in the Osberg Great Hall and the modern Fjord Hall. It's one of several Seattle venues the series uses, along with the Museum of Flight, the Arctic Club Hotel, Sparkman Cellars and Town Hall Seattle.
