Texas-born country folk singer-songwriter Buck Meek performs live at The Crocodile.
Buck Meek plays The Crocodile on Wednesday, December 2, starting at 8 PM. He's a Texas-born songwriter who does a tender, off-kilter kind of country folk built on a warm twang and sly storytelling.
Meek grew up in Driftwood, in the Wimberley area, where he spent his teens as a protégé of an old guard of mystic Texas songwriters and musicians. He eventually moved to New York, where he met Adrianne Lenker; the two lived in a van singing across the country before forming Big Thief. This show is a solo date, and the set will draw from his own records.
His fourth solo album, The Mirror—his second on 4AD—came out of a decade-long partnership with producer James Krivchenia. Krivchenia took Meek's live, kinetic energy and set it against an oblique electronic world, bringing in collaborators like Alex Somers on synthesizer, toy microphone, and piano, and Mary Lattimore on harp. It's a record that pulls in a few different directions at once, and hearing those textures live is a good reason to be there.
