Electronic music artist Bonobo performs live at Showbox SoDo in Seattle, with support from 1-800 GIRLS.
Bonobo plays Showbox SoDo on Tuesday, November 17, with 1-800 GIRLS opening. Bonobo is the stage name of Simon Green, a British electronic artist who's spent more than two decades building a reputation for music that works as well in a living room as it does on a dance floor.
Across six albums, he's gone from a niche name in the trip-hop and downtempo scenes to one of the biggest electronic artists of his generation. That growth shows up in the rooms he plays: he's sold out Alexandra Palace in London, and held down slots at Glastonbury, Coachella, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. His album Migration reached number five on the UK charts and earned a GRAMMY nomination, and the single "Linked" was part of that run. Since then, he's kept working in the margins of the club worldโhe released Ibrik through fabric presents in 2019, and in 2020 he put out a remix of Michael Kiwanuka's Mercury Prize-winning "Final Days."
That same year, he teamed up with producer Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs on "Heartbreak," which came out on his own label, OUTLIER. Since then, he's spent as much time as a DJ and curator across the Atlantic as he has behind the studio desk, so the live show usually pulls from a deep catalog of both his own records and the music he's been digging through. 1-800 GIRLS will open the night.
