American alt-country singer-songwriter Will Oldham performs live at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle.
Bonnie Prince Billy returns to the Tractor Tavern on Friday, January 29, 2027, for two shows in one night. The early one starts at 6 PM and the late one at 10 PM, so you can pick your slot.
Bonnie Prince Billy is the stage name of Will Oldham, a singer-songwriter and musician whose work usually lands in alt-country. He's been recording under a handful of names over the years—Palace, Palace Music, and Palace Brothers among them—and has played alongside Dave Pajo and his brothers, Ned and Paul Oldham. His projects run the gamut from Amalgamated Sons of Rest and The Anomoanon to The Boxhead Ensemble, Tortoise, and The Sundowners, and he put out his first solo album in 1993. Oldham has said the moniker draws on 'Bonnie' Prince Charlie, Billy the Kid, and Nat King Cole.
Beyond the music, he's appeared in films like Matewan (1987) and Old Joy (2006) and took the cover photograph for Slint's album Spiderland. The name itself—a nod to a Stuart prince, an outlaw, and a crooner—points toward the kind of wide-reaching, American-roots territory he's spent decades working in.
