Concert featuring the Seattle-based Dream Doom band Bonney Rubble, with support from The Well and Pink Fuzz at The Funhouse.
Bonney Rubble play The Funhouse on Tuesday, October 20, with The Well and Pink Fuzz opening. It's a Seattle bill, with all three bands based here, so you're getting a local night rather than a touring package. The show starts at 8:30 PM, and the venue is at 109 Eastlake Ave E, in the Eastlake neighborhood.
If you haven't caught them yet, Bonney Rubble is a Seattle Dream Doom band. They describe their sound as heavy music for the genre fluid, and that's a fair way to put itβthey move between Doom Metal, Post Metal, Dream Doom, and Shoegaze. It's a lot of ground to cover in one set, and the heavy side of that equation is the common thread. The Dream Doom label is the one they lean on most, and that's where the shoegaze influence comes in: the slow, crushing weight of doom metal paired with the hazy, atmospheric textures of shoegaze. It's a sound that works best when you can feel the low end in your chest while the melodies float over the top.
They're sharing the bill with The Well and Pink Fuzz, so there are three bands to work through before the night wraps. With all three being local, it's a good chance to see a few different takes on the heavier side of the city's scene in one go. If you're already familiar with the Seattle doom and post-metal community, you'll recognize the names; if not, it's a straightforward way to get a sense of what that sounds like live.
