Allison Russell

Allison Russell plays The Showbox on Wednesday, November 11, with Autumn Nicholas opening. Russell is a Montreal-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer, author, actor, and human rights advocate who has picked up a Grammy, a Juno, and Americana, SOCAN, and Folk Awards along the way. She's also been shortlisted for the Polaris Prize.

Her solo debut, Outside Child, came out in 2021 and was followed by The Returner in 2023. Before going solo, she co-founded and toured internationally with Po'Girl, Birds of Chicago, and Our Native Daughters—and she's still active with OND. She's also a member of Joni Mitchell's Joni Jam. The last couple of years have seen her move into some pretty different territory: in 2024 she joined Hozier's Unreal Unearth tour, and their duet "Wildflower & Barley" landed her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. That same November, she made her Broadway debut as Persephone in Hadestown.

Outside the music, she's a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ communities. She curated the Once and Future Sounds set at the Newport Folk Festival and co-founded Love Rising, which has raised over $550,000 for LGBTQIA+ causes. There's also a memoir of hers coming out from Little, Brown.

Autumn Nicholas opens the night. The show starts at 8 PM at The Showbox in Seattle.
