Concert by German fingerstyle guitarist Alexandr Misko, blending technical skill with emotional depth, with special guest Forest Bailey.
Alexandr Misko plays The Triple Door on Wednesday, October 21, with special guest Forest Bailey. The show is in The Rabbit Box, the smaller room inside the venue at 216 Union Street in downtown Seattle.
Misko is a German-based guitarist and composer working in modern fingerstyle, a style where the guitar handles melody, bass, and percussion all at once. He's self-taught and started playing at twelve. He first got a lot of attention when his original Guitar + Pen Tapping Song went viral, followed by an arrangement of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean that reached over 30 million views, and a version of George Michael's Careless Whisper that drew more than 80 million views in a single month. MusicRadar UK named him Guitarist of the Year in 2018. Since then, he's released five albums and played everywhere from small listening rooms to Carnegie Hall, sharing the stage with harpist Alexander Boldachev.
Forest Bailey opens the night. He works in a similar vein, combining fingerstyle, tapping, and percussive playing, and he lists Michael Hedges, Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, and Led Zeppelin as influences. Between the two of them, the evening stays within that percussive, solo-guitar territory.
