The 18th edition of the Seattle Latino Film Festival screens The Happiest Day of My Life at The Beacon Cinema, with 65 films from 16 countries across 11 venues.
The Beacon Cinema is screening The Happiest Day of My Life today, Saturday, October 10, as part of the 18th Seattle Latino Film Festival. It's a Portuguese film, one of 65 titles from 16 countries that make up this year's program.
The festival runs from October 9 to 17, with the official opening on Friday, October 9, at 6 PM and the closing on Saturday, October 17, at 1 PM. It's spread across 11 venues in Seattle and King County, starting at the Frye Art Museum and wrapping up at Central Cinema. This edition pushes beyond traditional cinema halls, pairing live flamenco with film and showing a documentary in IMAX. There was also a free pre-opening screening held in collaboration with the University of Washington's Latin American & Caribbean Studies program.
Among the 65 films is The Dance of the Kokoriti, an indigenous documentary by Emberá filmmaker Elio Cunampio. Closing night brings back Mexican director Rafa Lara, who's returned to Seattle for the third time to present his work.
