The store focuses entirely on cookbooks and food writing, with shelves covering everyday cooking, baking, drinks, international food, and culinary stories. Current releases include Coffee, for Here by Morgan Eckroth, The Lost Kitchen Volume 3 by Erin French, H Mart: The Cookbook by Stacey Kwon, and Ukraine: Recipes and Stories by Anna Voloshyna and Jason Perry. There are also fall pre-orders such as The Perfect Pizza by Maurizio Leo, Lettuce Riot by Becky Selengut, and Phonomenal Nights by Yenvy and Quynh-Vy Pham. Staff picks include Madaq, Scandinavian Everyday, Cake From Lucie, and Simply Donabe. A $25 Book Larder Gift Card is available, and standard shipping within the United States is free for in-stock orders over $150.
The central kitchen island gives the shop a practical event space rather than just a place to browse. Book Larder hosts cooking classes, cookbook presentations, author demonstrations, knife-sharpening days, and culinary pop-ups. On the current October 2026 calendar, events include talks with Adrianna Adarme, Nik Sharma, Joyce Tang, and Ali Francis. The store’s 15th anniversary celebration is scheduled for October 12, while Erin Jeanne McDowell’s October 13 event is already sold out. On October 19, Book Larder Presents Erin French at SIFF Uptown, and the October 22 talk with Alissa Timoshkina is virtual.
As of Monday, October 5, 2026, regular hours are Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. The phone number is (206) 397-4271. It is a focused stop for readers who want to browse food books in person and check whether a class, demonstration, or author event fits their schedule.
