Thomas Dolby performs his 1980s hits on the Iconic 80's Recollections Tour 2026, with DJ Vaughn Avakian.
Thomas Dolby plays Music Box on Monday, November 9, as part of his Iconic 80's Recollections Tour 2026. He's joined on the bill by DJ Vaughn Avakian.
If you know Dolby, you know him as the English musician and producer who made a name for himself in the 1980s with new wave songs like "She Blinded Me with Science" (1982) and "Hyperactive!" (1984). The tour title points toward that era, and the set will draw from the songs that put him on the map. But there's a lot more to his career than those early records.
In the 1990s, he stepped away from the stage to start Beatnik, a Silicon Valley software company. The polyphonic ringtone technology they developed ended up in more than half a billion cell phones and created the Nokia tune. Since then, he's served as music director for TED Conferences and, since 2014, has led the Music for New Media program at the Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University. Along the way, he's picked up four Grammy nominations, the Moog Innovation Award in 2012, the Roland Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, and a "Lifetime Achievement in Internet Music" award from Yahoo! Internet Life in 1998.
