Screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with original cast member Patricia Quinn, live shadow cast, costume contest and VIP meet & greet.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show comes to the Balboa Theatre on Sunday, October 11, as part of the Original Cast Spooktacular Tour. The evening pairs a new 4K restoration of the film with original cast member Patricia Quinn, who played Magenta, appearing live and in person. A live shadow cast performs alongside the screen, and there's a costume contest in the mix.
The screening is staged as a participatory ritual that's run for half a century: costumes are encouraged, props are required, and the callback lines are treated as non-negotiable. If you've never been to a Rocky Horror screening, that's the whole point—you don't just sit and watch; you shout back at the screen and throw things. The costume contest adds another layer to the night, so it's a good time to dig out something from the back of the closet.
For $100, a V.I.P. Meet & Greet adds VIP seating, a special Rocky Horror VIP laminate, a photo with Quinn, and an autograph. The Balboa Theatre itself fits the occasion: built in 1924 as a vaudeville and movie palace, it closed in 1986 and reopened in January 2008 after a city-funded renovation and restoration.
