Punk/metal band Strung Out performs live at The Holding Company in San Diego.
Strung Out are playing The Holding Company on Friday, December 11, starting at 7 PM. They're a punk and metal band from Simi Valley, California, and they've been together for almost 30 years. The lineup is fronted by Jason Cruz, with guitarists Jake Kiley and Rob Ramos, bassist Chris Aiken, and drummer RJ Shankle, who's held the seat since 2018.
Their most recent full-length is Songs Of Armor And Devotion, produced by Cameron Webb. Cruz describes the record as the culmination of those three decades, and it was shaped by the death of someone close to him. That loss runs through the songs, pairing the band's ferocious, aggressive side with the vulnerability of his lyrics. Alongside the album, they released Black Out The Sky, an acoustic EP that strips things back from the full-band sound.
