SHADED plays 3oz Dive Club on Saturday, October 17, with the night presented by Revolve Records. It's a Southern California tech-house and minimal-techno DJ, and the set is built around his own catalog rather than a pre-planned DJ set. He treats every performance as a live, improvised remix of his records, so what you hear is something he's building on the fly.
His sound is driving, psychedelic grooves layered with funk-soaked textures. The records have landed on John Summit's Experts Only, Dirtybird, Patrick Topping's TRICK, Desert Hearts, and Tiga's Turbo, and he's drawn support from Summit, Topping, and Jamie Jones. To keep things improvised, he works with a minimal rig: Ableton Live, three Xone K2 controllers, Maschine, a Roland SH-01A, a Roland VT-4, and an iPad.
Revolve Records is the one bringing him back to San Diego. The venue is 3oz Dive Club, which bills itself as the city's premiere nightclub and lounge, with one bar, one dance floor, resident DJs alongside top talent from around the globe, and VIP bottle service. The night is 21+ only.
