Concert by Leafar Seyer (Prayers), a San Diego goth/electronic artist, with support from Devora, Ex Lover, Hallows and Chriz Amaya.
Prayers plays Music Box on Friday, November 13, as part of the No Tengo Calma tour. The night opens with Devora, Ex Lover, and Hallows, with Prayers taking the main slot.
Prayers is the stage name of Leafar Seyer, a Mexican-born, San Diego-raised artist. He describes his sound as 'cholo goth'—a mix of the frosty abrasiveness of Skinny Puppy and Christian Death with the more accessible synth-pop of Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys. It's a specific intersection of industrial grit and dancefloor hooks, and the name he's given it fits the bill.
Seyer's early independent albums, SD Killwave and Gothic Summer, picked up Best Music Video and Best Music Video Editing at the 2015 San Diego Film Festival and Best Alternative Band at the 2015 San Diego Music Awards. From there, Ian Astbury of The Cult added him to the band's 2015 tour, and Travis Barker produced his album Young Gods. He later released the BMG albums Baptism of Thieves and Cholo Goth, the latter debuting at number one on the electronic charts, and the Christian Death collaboration Cursed Be Thy Blessing. In 2022, he became the first San Diego solo artist to tour Mexico, selling out shows across the country.

This show is part of the No Tengo Calma tour, which marks a new Spanish-language chapter for him. It's a shift in direction from the English-language work that built his reputation here, and the tour title points toward that change. The full bill includes Devora, Ex Lover, and Hallows, so there's plenty on the bill before Prayers takes over. Doors open at 8 PM and the music starts at 8:30 PM at Music Box, 1337 India Street in Little Italy.
