A painting open studio session where community members can paint together in a collaborative environment at Woodward Contemporary.
Woodward Contemporary is running an open studio session called Paint With Your Community, and it's one of those things that stays on the calendar for a long time. It's open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and it's been running since July 30, 2026, with no end in sight—it's scheduled to keep going until October 27, 2029. You'll find it at 3935 Harney St in San Diego.
The setup is straightforward: you bring your own supplies and work on whatever you're into, at your own pace. It's an open studio, so there's no set program or class to follow. The idea is to have a dedicated space to paint alongside other artists, where you can connect, share ideas, and get a bit of inspiration from the people working around you. It's open to all levels, so it works whether you've been painting for years or you're just getting started.
There's a bit more to it than just a place to sit. If you're a member, you have the chance to show select work in Woodward Contemporary Gallery exhibitions, which gives you a way to get your pieces out of the studio and in front of people. It's a nice bridge between the private work you do and the public side of the gallery.
