Oktoberfest celebration with Garden Groove (Sublime tribute) and DJ Rage at The Holding Company in Ocean Beach.
The Holding Company kicks off its Oktoberfest weekend on Friday, October 9, with Garden Groove, a Sublime tribute, and DJ Rage. It's the first of three days of Oktoberfest celebrations running through October 11, and this particular night takes place on the first floor of the venue in Ocean Beach.
If you're not familiar with the spot, The Holding Company is a three-story restaurant, bar, and live music venue that opened in July 2017. It's also the birthplace of Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey. It shares the space with its sister restaurant, OB Noodle House, which does Asian fusion. Up on the rooftop bar, there are panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the Ocean Beach Pier, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, SeaWorld, and Old Town, with firepits and climate-controlled seating. Over the years, the venue has hosted acts like the Yin Yang Twins, Strung Out, Naughty by Nature, Coolio, Andre Nickatina, Buckcherry, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Keller Williams.
Friday night's bill puts Garden Groove on the tribute side of things, playing the catalog of Sublime, with DJ Rage keeping things moving. The whole Oktoberfest weekend runs from October 9 to 11, so this is just the start of the stretch. One thing to keep in mind: the entire weekend is 21+ only, and you'll need a valid ID to get in.
