Live concert by influential American blues and rock musician Jon Spencer at the Casbah venue.
Jon Spencer plays Casbah on Monday, November 16, with the show starting at 8 PM. He's the only name on the bill, so the whole night belongs to him.
If you're not familiar with the name, Spencer has been a fixture in independent music since the mid-80s. He's an acclaimed live performer who has toured every continent except Antarctica, and he's released more than 25 albums over the course of his career. The music he makes is punk-influenced and pulls from a wide range of American roots styles—Hill-Country Blues and Rockabilly sit on one end, while Industrial Noise and Hip-Hop hold the other. It's a lot of ground to cover in one set.
He's also known for the different bands he's fronted: Pussy Galore, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Heavy Trash, and Jon Spencer & the HITmakers. He's played in Boss Hog, The Honeymoon Killers, The Gibson Brothers, and Taxi Girls, and has collaborated with a long list of artists, including Steve Albini, Beck, Beastie Boys, R.L. Burnside, Moby, Prince Paul, Nancy Sinatra, and Rufus Rufus. He's also produced albums for Cheater Slicks, King Brothers, Demolition Doll Rods, and Samantha Fish & Jesse Dayton.
