Britpop, Post-Punk and Madchester dance party night at Whistle Stop Bar, celebrating 17 years of the venue's Friday series.
DJ Daniel Sant takes over the booth at Whistle Stop Bar this Friday, October 16, for another edition of F#!Kin' In The Bushes. It's the bar's regular Britpop and Madchester night, and the set focuses on Britpop, post-punk, and Madchesterโthe kind of dance party that draws from the UK's guitar-driven pop and dance scenes of the late eighties and nineties.
If those labels don't ring a bell, think of the sound that came out of Manchester and London when dance music started bleeding into indie rock: the baggy beats of the Madchester era, the melodic hooks of Britpop, and the jagged edges of post-punk. It's a specific corner of British music history, and that's exactly what the night is built around. The venue's notes mark the occasion as having reached 17 years, so it's a long-running fixture rather than a one-off.
F#!Kin' In The Bushes runs every third Friday at the South Park bar, which holds 200 people. That makes it a regular part of the neighborhood's Friday night rotation, not a rare event you have to plan your whole month around. If you've been before, you know the drill: a DJ set that keeps the floor moving through those three styles, with the Britpop and Madchester taking center stage.
