Finnish folk-metal and melodic death metal band Ensiferum perform live at the House of Blues in San Diego.
Ensiferum play the House of Blues San Diego on Friday, November 13, 2026. They're a Finnish folk-metal and melodic death metal band from Helsinki, and their career goes back to their first demo in 1997. Their sound pulls from folk, melodic death, Viking, and power metal, and they're known for battle anthems and heroic choirs.
Their eighth album, Thalassic (2020), topped the album chart in Finland and reached number three in Germany, with top-ten showings in Switzerland, Canada, and the USA. That success took them to festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, and Ragnarök. The album Winter Storm followed the pandemic lockdowns, with founding guitarist Markus Toivonen writing every song except "Fatherland," which was penned by bassist Sami Hinkka, and singer and organist Pekka Montin adding melodic high notes.
