A techno and house night at EQ San Diego with a dress code theme, featuring electronic music beats.
DRE$$ COD3 is the Wednesday night at EQ San Diego, and it's back on Wednesday, October 7. The night is built around techno and house, and they describe it as "the sluttiest techno and house beats San Diego has to offer."
If you're not familiar with the spot, EQ is in Hillcrest at 1271 University Avenue. It's a space with a bit of a history behind it—the same door has gone by three different names over the years. It opened in 2008 as The Ruby Room, which leaned into live acts, art, and an eclectic program in the heart of San Diego's LGBTQ neighborhood. In July 2013, it became The Merrow, a nautical-themed spot—a merrow is a mermaid in Gaelic—that brought in a new bar and turned up the volume. Then it became EQ after a change of ownership, a name it's carried since the spring of 2024, when it launched its own website and shifted more clearly toward electronic music. The room holds 181 inside and another 150 on the patio, so there's a decent amount of space to move around.
