Concert by the San Diego band Deadbolt, who fuse surf rock, goth, psychobilly and blues into their unique 'voodoobilly' style.
Deadbolt are playing Casbah on Saturday, December 5, 2026, with the show starting at 8 PM. It's a San Diego band playing one of the city's most established rooms, and they're the only act on the bill.
If you haven't come across them before, the sound is a bit of a puzzle. They pull from surf rock, goth, psychobilly and blues, and they pair that mix with lyrics that are unusually offbeat. It's a strange combination of styles that doesn't quite fit into any one box, and that's exactly where they live. The band has their own name for it: voodoobilly.
That term does a fair bit of the heavy lifting. The surf rock brings the reverb and the beachy twang; the goth adds a dark, moody edge; the psychobilly gives it that fast, rockabilly energy; and the blues holds the whole thing together. When you throw in the offbeat lyrics, you get something that sounds like it belongs in a midnight movie. It's a sound that's hard to pin down but easy to recognize once you've heard it.
