Comedy performance by Emmy award-winning comedian Dana Carvey at the historic Humphreys Concerts by the Bay venue.
Dana Carvey is bringing his stand-up to Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Tuesday, November 7, 2026, at 7:30 PM. If you've spent any time watching Saturday Night Live, you know him as the man behind some of the show's most enduring characters: George Bush, Ross Perot, the Church Lady, and Hans. He spent seven seasons on the show, and those impressions are a huge part of why he's an Emmy award winner. After SNL, he moved into movies, starring in Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2.
He's playing at Humphreys on Shelter Island, which is San Diego's oldest annual outdoor concert series. It launched in 1982 and is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. The venue holds 1,450 people, so it stays relatively intimate even with a full house. It started as a straight-ahead jazz series booked by San Diego Jazz Festival founder Rob Hagey, with early rock shows added by then-UCSD student Marc Geiger. The smooth-jazz era of the 1980s, driven by KIFM-FM's 'Lites Out' format, turned it into a must-play stop for acts like Kenny G, Spyro Gyra, and Chuck Mangione. A permanent roofed stage went up in 1989, and talent buyer Kenny Weissberg, who booked the series from 1985 to 2006, counted Carvey among his personal favorites.
