45th Annual Show of AGASC, featuring the best in art glass San Diego has to offer.
The Art Glass Association of Southern California is bringing its annual members' exhibition back to Gallery 21 in the Spanish Village on Thursday, October 22. This year marks the 45th edition of the show, which gathers art glass from across the region and puts it all in one room. The association describes it as featuring the best in art glass San Diego has to offer, and this 45th anniversary show fills the gallery.
If you're not familiar with the association, it's a group that brings together glass artists from across Southern California, and this exhibition is their main annual event. The work on display comes from their members, so you're seeing a cross-section of what's being made in the region rather than a curated selection from a few big names. Because it's a members' show, the variety tends to be wide—different styles, techniques, and scales all sharing the same space. The 45th anniversary adds a bit of weight to the occasion, too; it's a long-running tradition that's been running for four and a half decades.

Gallery 21 is located within the Spanish Village, one of the many artist colonies in Balboa Park. The village itself is a collection of studios and galleries, so you can easily make a day of it and wander through the other spaces nearby. The exhibition runs from 11 AM to 4 PM on Thursday, October 22, and admission is free. If you've been meaning to see more of the glass work coming out of the local scene, this is a good place to catch a lot of it in one go.
