Arin Ray brings The Limbo Tour to Music Box on Thursday, October 8. He's a Cincinnati native who grew up with music in his blood, and he's spent the last decade working from both sides of the glass. After appearing on The X-Factor in 2012, he built a reputation as a songwriter, placing hits for Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Young Thug, and Jeremih.
His own recordings lean into a different space. His debut EP, Phases, blended future soul with the gentle, effortless delivery of a classically trained voice, and he followed it with Phases II in December 2019. That series produced tracks like "Change," featuring Kehlani, "A Seat," and "The Get Down." Since then, he's appeared on records by Cordae, Kiana Lede, Earthgang, Terrace Martin, and Steelo, and did a live rendition of "This Morning" with Martin and Smino. His sound sits at the crossroads of hip-hop, jazz, and neo-soul.
Opening the night is Baby J, a singer-songwriter born and raised in Wisconsin whose introspective lyrics explore love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. The show is billed as 21 and up.
