Tonight is a good night to be out in San Diego, and the coming week keeps the momentum going. If you're looking for somewhere to land this Saturday, Jordan Krimston is playing Soda Bar and SHADED is over at 3oz Dive Club, so there's a choice between a more intimate room and a dance floor depending on the mood you're after.

Monday shifts the focus to The Banshee Bar, which is shaping up to be the busiest room in town over the next ten days. Octopoulpe headlines there on the 19th, and the venue keeps the streak running with Muto Tapes on Thursday the 22nd, Organ Dealer on Friday the 23rd, DJ Fn1 on Saturday the 24th, No Idols on Sunday the 25th, Sangre Bruja on Tuesday the 27th, and Pollinators on Thursday the 29th. If you're in the habit of catching a show on a weeknight, The Banshee is the place that's making it easiest to do so.
Thursday the 22nd gives you a second option, with DJ Heather Hardcore playing the Casbah, and Friday the 23rd adds Dave Summer at 3oz Dive Club to the mix. Saturday the 24th is a big one for tribute acts: Endless, Nameless brings a Nirvana tribute to McGuffie's Live, while The Unt3ouchables play the Music Box. A few of the other shows that weekend sit just outside the city, with Rainbow Body at the Irvine Bowl in Laguna Beach, Yasawa Group at Knuckleheads in San Clemente, and Darryl Williams at Humphrey's Backstage Live on Sunday the 25th.
Looking a bit further ahead, the calendar fills up again. Two Runner plays Soda Bar on Saturday, November 15, and The Milk Carton Kids bring their harmony-driven sound to Belly Up in Solana Beach on Saturday, December 17, which is a nice way to round out the year if you're into folk and Americana. And for anyone who likes to plan well in advance, Rhiannon Giddens — the two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, multi-instrumentalist, and Pulitzer Prize winner — is scheduled for the Jacobs Music Center on Thursday, February 11, 2027, at 7:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:30. Tickets there run from $62.80 up to $180.20, with a limited number of free tickets set aside for UCSD students, and she'll be playing music from her recent projects, including "What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow."
It's worth noting that a few of the bigger names that have been circling the region have already come and gone. The Punch Brothers played the Epstein Family Amphitheater on October 9, and Mavis Staples brought her twelfth studio album, "We Get By," to Belly Up in Solana Beach back in September. The amphitheater, by the way, seats over 2,000 and sits right at the UC San Diego campus gateway near the MTS Blue Line trolley, so it's an easy place to get to when the next big bill lands there. For now, though, the action is more spread out across the city's smaller rooms, which is exactly the kind of week that rewards just walking in and seeing what's on.
