The YOSA Symphony, Wind Ensemble and Prelude Strings present a vibrant musical showcase of student musicians, including the YOSA Philharmonic.
Youth Orchestras of San Antonio bring their Winter Showcase to the H-E-B Performance Hall at the Tobin Center on Sunday, January 31, 2027. It's a bill that puts several of their ensembles on one stage: the YOSA Symphony, the Wind Ensemble, and the Prelude Strings. The Philharmonic, conducted by Troy Peters, takes the lead.
If you're not familiar with them, YOSA is a youth music organization that works to change lives by providing shared musical experiences to young people of all backgrounds. They run on the belief that high-quality music education should be open to everyone, regardless of financial or social circumstances. It's a broad operation: they serve more than 2,500 musicians aged 8 to 20 through eleven orchestras, a wind ensemble, a flute choir, a mariachi, and six levels of strings, alongside the YOSA Summer Symphony Camp and YOSA School Partnerships.
The Philharmonic is the organization's most advanced ensemble, drawing the finest young musicians from across the San Antonio area to perform professional-level repertoire in premier venues. They collaborate regularly with internationally renowned soloists and composers. The group also belongs to YOSA's Classic Albums Live series, which reinvents classic rock and pop songs with orchestral accompaniment—past celebrations have covered Prince, Queen, the Beatles, and Selena.
