A classical music concert by The Orchestra San Antonio featuring works by Rossini, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, with a pre-concert talk.
The Orchestra San Antonio is back at the H-E-B Performance Hall on Saturday, February 26, 2027, with a program titled EMERGENcE and VIcTORY. It's a three-work set that pulls from different corners of the classical canon: Gioachino Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia overture to open, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18 in the middle, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 to close. It's a heavy-hitting lineup—Rossini's light, bubbling energy, Rachmaninoff's sweeping romanticism, and Beethoven's most famous symphony all in one evening.
For those who don't know them, TOSA is the resident company orchestra at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, where they've operated under the Classical Music Institute since 2014. They run three main branches: Chamber Connexions, their chamber music series; Ascend, their official education program that partners with schools across Bexar County; and The 210 Festival, their signature summer celebration. They also collaborate with other local resident companies like OPERA San Antonio, Ballet San Antonio, and 100A Productions, so they're often the orchestral backbone for a lot of the city's stage work.

Leading the ensemble is Music Director Leonardo Pineda, who took over in October 2025. He's described as part of a new generation of conductor-curators redefining the classical music experience, and his debut at the H-E-B Hall featured trumpeter Pacho Flores and ended in a three-minute standing ovation. If you're not usually one for the concert hall, there's a pre-concert 'Stories Behind the Sound' an hour before the show, which gives you a bit of context on the music before the first note. The concert starts at 7:30 PM at the H-E-B Performance Hall in the Tobin Center.
