Industry night staged reading of the stage adaptation of Cheryl Strayed's advice column Dear Sugar, adapted by Nia Vardalos.
Tiny Beautiful Things comes to the Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater at The Tobin Center on Monday, March 15, 2027. It's a staged reading based on the book by Cheryl Strayed, adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos and co-conceived with Marshall Heyman and Thomas Kail. The piece draws on the anonymous letters and compassionate responses of Dear Sugar, the advice column Strayed wrote for years.
It's presented as an Industry Night reading, a format where actors perform while still holding their scripts. That's a bit different from a fully memorized production, so you'll see the process on stage as much as the story. The reading is the finale of 100A Productions' 2026-2027 season, which they built around the theme 'Listening, Memory, and the Stories We Tell.' Producing Artistic Director Rick Frederick describes the season as being about listening 'to memory, to belief, to one another, and to the stories that make us feel less alone.'
The cast includes Amy Abrigo, Kathy Couser, Linda Ford, Michael Howard, Karen Jones, Cynthia Martinez Rodriguez, David Stahl, and Will Mercer, with Alex Grubbs and Chris McGarry directing. Each performance opens with a pre-show lobby happy hour designed to bring artists, audiences, and the surrounding community together, so you can arrive early and hang out before the reading starts.
