Culinary experience with live-fire cooking by Grill Master Alejandro Gutiérrez within Pearl's Día de los Muertos celebration.
Sabores de México at Pearl comes to Stable Hall on Sunday, November 1, as part of the Pearl's larger Día de los Muertos celebration. The afternoon is built around Alejandro Gutiérrez, founder of the Mexican Society of Grillers and an internationally recognized Grill Master, who'll be cooking over live fire.
The whole thing is framed by Día de los Muertos, the tradition rooted in Mexico and Central America that's observed on November 1 and 2. It blends indigenous Mesoamerican and Spanish Catholic practices, and at its center are the altares and ofrendas—altars and offerings that honor the dead with photographs, favorite foods, and drinks, all set among candles, incense, and cempasúchiles, the marigolds meant to guide spirits home. The gathering of family and community is what gives the holiday its meaning, and that's the context this afternoon sits in.
As for what you'll actually do: it's set up as a VIP experience that weaves together storytelling, live-fire cooking, traditional gastronomy, and music, all paying tribute to Mexico's ancestral flavors and cultural heritage. Gutiérrez will be at the center of it, working with the open flame and talking through the tradition as he goes. It's less of a standard meal and more of a guided look at the flavors and the history behind them.
