Free outdoor screening of the film 'Jurassic Park' at Mission Marquee Plaza, part of the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office's outdoor film series.
Jurassic Park plays at Mission Marquee Plaza tonight, Thursday, October 15, as part of the city's outdoor family film series. It's a free screening, and since it's a Thursday night, it's one of the few times the plaza does movies on a weekday—most of the series falls on Saturdays.
This whole run is put on by the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office, with H-E-B as a partner. The movies weren't just picked out of a hat, either: the lineup came from community recommendations gathered through an open call on social media. Hamilton made the cut as part of the Texas America 250 celebration marking America's Semiquincentennial, and Jurassic Park fits right in with the family-friendly vibe the series has gone for all season.
If you've missed the earlier dates, there's still plenty left. The series runs from Saturday, May 2 through Saturday, November 21, with films on the first and third Saturday and the third Thursday of each month. It started with Luca and How to Train Your Dragon in May, moved through Zootopia 2 and Superman in June, Tron: Ares in July, A Minecraft Movie in August, and Selena in September. After Jurassic Park tonight, there's Frankenweenie on October 24 and Elf on November 21 to close things out.

Beyond the movies, the plaza stays busy with nearly 65 events this season, including two farmers' and artisans' markets every month, each paired with a free community wellness and fitness event. The plaza itself opened in June 2014 on the site of the former Mission Drive-In, which the city acquired in 2007, and it sits near the historic San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For the films, you're encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and snacks—local food trucks are on-site, and pets are welcome on a leash. The plaza opens at 6 PM during October and November, and the movie starts shortly after dusk. Admission is free.
