If you've only heard them through the radio, you're likely thinking of "Wagon Wheel," which went double-platinum in 2019. That's just one part of a long run. The band formed in New York in 1998 and spent their early years busking on street corners while traveling by van from New York state up through Canada. They eventually settled in North Carolina for a year, where they played in front of a local pharmacy to an impressed Doc Watson, who promptly booked them for his MerleFest.
Since then, they've been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and picked up two Grammy Awards: Best Folk Album for Remedy in 2014 and Best Long Form Music Video for Big Easy Express in 2013. Their debut album, O.C.M.S., went gold. They're a Nashville band now, and they describe their sound as American roots music with a rock and roll attitude. Their most recent release is Live At The Ryman, from 2019.
