Over-21s cooking demonstration by the San Antonio Botanical Garden's Culinary Team on German beer cheese, schnitzel and bratwurst with polka music.
Oktoberfest in the OTK is happening at the San Antonio Botanical Garden on Saturday, October 17, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The garden's culinary team is taking over half of the Culinary Garden for a demonstration-heavy class built around making a proper beer cheese and celebrating German heritage and cuisine. It's a hands-on afternoon that pairs the cooking with German-style beer, schnitzel, pretzels, bratwurst, and lively polka music, and you're free to wander the rest of the garden while the class is under way.
San Antonio has a long history of celebrating its German roots, which is where the theme comes from. The city has a tradition of bringing authentic Bavarian culture, traditional brass music, and high-energy stein-hoisting competitions to South Texas, and this session leans into that. The focus is on the food and the heritage, with the beer cheese demonstration as the center of the afternoon.
