Weekly Saturday of free dinner jazz with saxophonist Noah Peterson playing ballads, jazz and bossa nova at Albi's Vite on 410.
Noah Peterson is taking over Albi's Vite on 410 for a series of solo saxophone sets every Saturday night, starting October 17 and running through December 26. He calls them Solo Sax Sessions - Dinner Jazz, and the title tells you exactly what to expect: ballads, jazz, and bossa nova played solo, meant to sit alongside dinner rather than take center stage. It's the kind of thing that works just as well as a backdrop for a meal as it does if you're there specifically for the music.
Peterson is a San Antonio saxophonist and songwriter, but that's only one part of what he does. He also works as a producer, composer, music business consultant, record label executive, and musician's advocate. The Solo Sax Sessions are presented by Peterson Entertainment, LLC, and they lean into the quieter, melodic side of his playing. The ballads and bossa nova keep things mellow, and since he's playing solo, the saxophone carries the whole room.
If you're curious about what else he does, his wider body of work reaches far beyond the dinner jazz. He records across ambient, blues, electro, reggae, improv, funk, and nu jazz, so these Saturday nights are just one slice of his output. The Solo Sax Sessions are the more focused, stripped-back side of that range.
